Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay

This sundial-shaped 700-foot bridge spanning the Sacramento River has become an emblem of the California city of Redding. Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay was designed by Santiago Calatrava made of steel, glass and granite and opened in 2004 for use by pedestrians and bicyclists to access Turtle Bay Exposition Park. The 300-acre recreation site saw a significant visitation increase since the cable-stayed bridge was constructed. The structure also provides a gateway to the Sacramento River Trail system.
