Located in the heart of the Levant, Jordan is a landlocked kingdom, save for a small window onto the Red Sea, where vast, quiet deserts meet some of the most famous ruins in the world. Most people start in Amman, a hilly capital city where you can eat incredible falafel downtown and then walk up to the Citadel to see Roman columns overlooking the urban sprawl. From there, it’s an easy drive south to Petra, the "Rose City" carved directly into pink sandstone cliffs. Walking through the narrow gorge known as the Siq until the Treasury suddenly appears is the kind of moment that stays with you forever. Further south, the landscape turns into Wadi Rum, a desert of red sand and towering rock formations where you can camp under the stars with Bedouin hosts.

With cooler temperatures and softer light, this season is ideal for exploring Petra’s towering façades, hiking through the Dana Biosphere Reserve, or navigating canyons in Wadi Mujib. Cultural life perks up too — festivals like Jerash showcase traditional music and dance, while fewer tourists make visits more relaxed. Day-to-evening swings in the desert bring refreshing breezes and stargazing opportunities under open skies.

Winter in Jordan brings cooler weather, especially in the north and highlands, while the desert and Red Sea coast remain relatively mild. Amman and Petra see daytime highs around 7-15 °C and can drop to near or below freezing at night. The rainy season peaks in December and January in the western hills, and occasional snow may dust the highest elevations like Amman’s ridge. In contrast, Aqaba and the Dead Sea stay milder with daytime temperatures around 14-20 °C. What an adventure! From the stunning landscapes of Jordan to the bustling markets of Cairo, this tour had it all.
