The active temple and museum was built in 1863 to serve the large Chinese immigrant population in Oroville and surrounding areas. Oroville Chinese Temple displays Chinese and American costumes, decorative tapestries, parade parasols, historic photographs, replicas of the Lee Fong Building and miner's hut and many artifacts from the region's Asian culture. Its garden has plants native to China and a serene fish pond. The temple is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
