Chelsea Hotel

Also called the Hotel Chelsea, Chelsea Hotel is one of New York's most historic hotels. Built between 1883 and 1885, Hotel Chelsea is best known for having been the home of some of the most influential minds of music, literature and visual arts. Chelsea Hotel has been the home to famous guests including Edith Piaf, Mark Twain, Arthur Miller, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Frieda Kahlo and Joni Mitchell, to name a few. The Chelsea Hotel was especially occupied with the art moguls during the 60s, often associated with Warhol Superstars (Andy Warhol's clique of artists and socialites); and was the home to Madonna who lived in Chelsea Hotel during the early 80s'. The Chelsea Hotel currently does not accept long term residents and has been closed for renovations since 2011.
