This legendary Central Park restaurant in Manhattan's Upper West Side is one of the most famous and most visited dining establishments in the United States. Tavern on the Green opened back in 1934 and closed in 2009. Before it was re-opened in 2014, New York City ran it as a visitor's center from 2010-12. The restaurant featuring American cuisine has had various owners throughout the years. Tavern on the Green's structure was built in 1870 as a sheepfold for sheep that grazed in the park's Sheep Meadow.
