Porta Nigra

Located in Germany's oldest city, this Roman city gate was constructed from 186-200 A.D. and named for its dark color. Porta Nigra was once part of four gates that protected the Roman city. Napoleon Bonaparte ordered many of the buildings around the gate to be destroyed in 1802. Porta Nigra is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site and open to tours led by a guide dressed in Roman attire.
