Plaza Vieja

Originally the wealthy neighborhood for the Spanish-Cuban aristocracy, Old Havana's Plaza Vieja is one of the five main plazas composing the district. Here, everything from parades to bullfights to executions were held, easily visible from the aristocracy's balcony. After old Havana was declared a World Heritage site, the city government of Havana began restoring the plaza and recreated the plaza's original dolphin fountain.
