Plaza de la Catedral

One of the five main plazas of Old Havana, the Plaza de la Catedral hosts the Cathedral of Havana, the Palacio del Conde Lombillo where the City Historian's Office is housed and works to restore Havana's sites; a statue to flamenco dancer Antonio Gandes and one to George Washington. Once a marshland, this area was transformed by the Spanish into a naval dock and later became home to the Cathedral of Havana and some of the city's grandest mansions, which are still preserved there today.
