Petersen House

The historic Federal style red brick rowhouse where United States President Abraham Lincoln died after being shot across the street at Ford's Theatre replicates the scene of his death with some original materials used during that time. Petersen House was built in 1849 by William A. Petersen and was bought by the National Park Service in 1933. Visitors will learn about that fateful night on April 14, 1865 and who was there. Along with Ford's Theatre, it is a U.S. National Historic Site.
