Lincoln Home National Historic Site

Abraham Lincoln lived in this Springfield, Illinois house from 1844-61 before going on to become the 16th president of the United States. The only house Lincoln ever owned was donated to the state of Illinois in 1884 by his son Robert Todd Lincoln and it was designated a National Historic Site in 1971. In addition to the house, other buildings within four blocks have been renovated to appear as they were when Lincoln lived there.
