Convent of the Sacred Heart

The all-girls school has classes in two landmark mansions-the Otto H. Kahn House and James A. Burden House-in Manhattan's Upper East Side. The Roman Catholic institution, which was founded in 1881, is the city's oldest private school for girls and moved to the Kahn House in the 1930s and then the Burden House in the 1940s. Convent of the Sacred Heart is one of the most expensive and exclusive schools in Manhattan. Famous graduates include Gloria Vanderbilt, Jean Kennedy Smith, Caroline Kennedy, Ethel Skakel Kennedy, Joan Bennett Kennedy, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Elaine Stritch, Nicky Hilton and Lady Gaga.
