Manhattan Island

New York City's Manhattan Island contains multiple world famous landmarks including Times Square, The Empire State Building, Central Park, The Broadway Theater District, One World Trade Center, Wall Street, Chinatown, Little Italy, Madison Avenue, New York Stock Exchange and 30 Rockefeller Center. It is one of the five boroughs of New York City and is separated into Downtown, Uptown and Midtown. Manhattan Island was settled by Europeans in 1624 and its name derives from the Native American Lenape word "Manhatta" translated in English to mean "hilly or small island."
