Our stroll through Ipoh’s city markets at the end of the tour was full of fun surprises—bean sprouts, chicken dishes, snow‑flake beer, Heong Peng and the sweet muah chee dessert capped it off perfectly.
This one‑day tour from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh gave us so much: the railway station, colonial town drive, castle, cave temple and market food. The mix of food, history and architecture made it well worth the time.
Exploring the Perak Tong Cave Temple was a quiet and impressive moment. Walking through the limestone cavern and seeing over 40 Buddha statues provided a peaceful contrast to the busier heritage town.
Visiting Kellie’s Castle was enchanting and slightly eerie. The unfinished mansion with Moorish‑Indian‑Roman influences perched near Ipoh gave us a real sense of colonial ambition—and intrigue.
Stopping at the original Old Town White Coffee in Old Town for lunch was a highlight. We sampled local dishes, soaked in the heritage surroundings and appreciated the British colonial buildings we drove past en route.
