The National Park admission is a government administrative fee adjustment proposed by the U.S. federal government and implemented by the National Park Service (NPS). It is an official government -mandated charge and not a fee imposed by travel agencies or booking platforms. When entering national parks where this policy is enforced, travelers identified on site by the Nation- al Park Service as Non-Residents will be required to pay an additional non-resident fee, in addition to standard entrance tickets or passes, in accordance with official regulations. The NPS has not issued a single unified official definition of "Resident" vs. "Non-Resident." Final determination is made on site at the park entrance on the day of entry, based on identity verification. U.S. citizens or residents may be required to present a U.S. passport, state-issued driver's license or ID, or Permanent Resident Card (Green Card). The Non-Resident Annual Pass is approximately USD 250, which may exempt the holder from the USD 100 per-visit non-resident surcharge. This policy applies to national parks explicitly announced by the NPS as enforcing non-resident fees. Final applicability is subject to NPS official announcements and on-site enforcement.
