Trans Canada Trail

One of the longest trail networks in the world is this recreational passage expected to stretch 14,000 miles across Canada from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. The Trans Canada Trail was started in 1992 to celebrate the country's 125th birthday and consists of almost 500 individual trails to connect approximately 1,000 communities. It is used for hiking, bicycling, skiing and horseback riding. The trail expected to be finished in 2017 begins in St. Johns, New Foundland and ends in Victoria, British Columbia going east to west. The south-to-north route starts in Calgary, Alberta and runs to Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
