Built on the site of an old Franciscan convent, this is one of five royal basilicas in Madrid. It is located in the Plaza of San Francisco in La Latina neighborhood. The neoclassical structure contains paintings by Zurbaran, and Francisco Goya did the painting of San Bernardino found in the Chapel of San Bernardino de Siena. The basilica also has the largest dome in Spain, measuring 190 feet high and 108 feet across.
