The scenic unincorporated community along the Pacific Ocean near the Westside of Los Angeles has the largest man-made small vessel harbor in the world with 19 marinas and docking space for more than 5,000 boats. Marina del Rey was dedicated in 1965 after years of local planning and it has many stores, restaurants and attractions for tourists including its famous Fisherman's Village, modeled after a New England fishing village. Other highlights are UCLA Marine Aquatic Center, Balona Wetlands, Chace Park and the California Yacht Club.
