Mackinac Bridge

This 8,614-foot long structure nicknamed Mighty Mac or Big Mac that connects Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas is one of the world's longest suspension bridges. Mackinac Bridge was designed by David Steinman, who later authored a book titled "Miracle Bridge at Mackinac." Construction began in 1954 and it was open to traffic in 1957. The bridge is used by more than 11,500 vehicles per day.
