This historic Canadian town paved with cobblestone streets began in 1867 when John "Gassy Jack" Deighton, nicknamed being for extremely talkative, established a saloon there. Early 20th Century Victorian architecture can be seen throughout the noted "Birthplace of Vancouver" where there are a variety of stores, restaurants, bar and art galleries to enjoy. Gastown's steam-powered clock at the corner of Water and Cambie streets is a recognizable landmark that many tourists flock to see.
