Casa dos Bicos

This 16th century palace is one of the only buildings in Lisbon to survive the 1755 earthquake. Located in Alfama, it is walking distance from Comercio Square. Also known as the "House of Spikes," Casa dos Bicos belonged to Afonso de Albuquerque, Viceroy of India. Today, it’s home to the Saramago Foundation and has a library of the Nobel Prize winning author’s work. There are also great grilled fish restaurants in the area that make it a perfect place for lunch.
