Visitors can go back in time in Lisbon's oldest district is a picturesque maze of historic ornate churches, narrow cobblestone roadways and alleys, iron balconies and whitewashed structures topped with red roofs. Afama's most famous landmarks is the stunning St. George's Castle that dates back to medieval times. Other notable sites are Sao Vicente de Fora Church, Lisbon Cathedral, The Tile Museum Lisbon, The National Pantheon, Decorative Arts Museum, Santo Antonio Church and the House of Spikes. Alfama founded in the 12th Century is known for its Portugese Fado music.
