Cambridge Common

This 16-acre Massachusetts park is used by more than 10,000 pedestrians and cyclists daily. The recreation area located outside Harvard Square contains paths, a field, historic monuments and the Alexander W. Kemp Playground. The U.S. National Historic Landmark has a plaque noting the elm tree where General George Washington stood when taking charge of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Visitors can view memorials for the Civil War and Irish Famine, as well.
