St. Matthew's Cathedral

The Washington, D.C. Romanesque style cathedral was designed by Christopher Grant LaFarge and hosted its first mass in 1895 and is dedicated to the patron saint of civil servants. St. Matthew's Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Washington, D.C. and the on U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was the funeral site of U.S. President John F. Kennedy was there on Nov. 25, 1963 as it was for U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Associate Justice William J. Brennan.
