The Pentagon

The five-sided concrete building located in Arlington, Virginia across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. is a symbol of the United States Military. The Pentagon, which was designed by George Bergstrom in Classical Revival style and was dedicated in 1943, is the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense. The western side of the 6.5 million square-foot office building was destroyed in the 9/11 attacks killing 189 people and the structure was fully repair one year later. More than 106,000 people visit The Pentagon each year. Its tour features exhibits and historic photographs on United States Military history as well as a 9/11 Memorial Chapel.
