The 20-mile long picturesque river slowly running from Mount Waialeale is Hawaii's only navigable river with a vessel larger than a kayak and has the impressive waterfalls of Wailua and Opaekaa on Kauai island. Fern Grotto, Nounou Mountains, Kamokila Hawaiian Village, Secret Falls, Wailua Beach and historic Hawaiian sites line the Wailua River. Kayaking is a common activity on the river that separates into two forks.
