Founded in colonial times, The Cabildo once served as the seat of the New Orleans's government and was the site of the signing of the Louisiana Purchase. Today it is managed by the Louisiana State Museum, who utilize it to offer visitors a glimpse into Louisiana's rich past. While it serves an important place in colonial history the museum also chronicle's the state's diverse ethnic heritage. As a bonus, the structure houses a rare artifact: Napoleon's death mask, one of four that exist in the world!
