Adam Beck I began generating power in 1922 and was named after Beck in 1950 on the 25th anniversary of the hydroelectricity advocate's death. Adam Beck II started making power in 1954. The 174 megawatt stations are a National Historic Site of Canada and the site is owned by Ontario Power Generation.
