The scenic Northern California coastal city incorporated in 1959 shares a name with the crescent-shaped bay that borders it and features beautiful beaches, inviting hotels and enticing restaurants. Half Moon Bay has two seaside championship golf courses, horseback rides on the beach, a Main Street commercial area and historic landmark sites. Before 1874, the area was known as Spanishtown because of the many Spanish-speaking residents. Elephant seals are a popular attraction that often populate Half Moon Bay's Ano Nuevo State Reserve.
