The Peach State's 237-foot high Capitol building was constructed in Atlanta from 1884-1889 as a "Symbol of the New South." The site includes The Georgia State Capitol Museum containing exhibits, art and memorials detailing Georgia's history and the Hall of Valor showcasing battle flags. The Neoclassical Renaissance Revival four-floor crowned with a gold dome and female statue representing freedom was designed by Franklin Burnham and Willoughby Edbrooke. Georgia State Capital is a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
