About Devin Castle

Situated on a nearly 700-foot tall cliff at the confluence of Danube and Morava rivers, this lovely castle is a popular destination to visit in Bratislava for both locals and tourists. Devin Castle dates back to 863 with various structural changes made throughout the years. Parts of its were destroyed by Napoleon during the Napoleonic Wars in 1809. The castle grounds today are made up of various structures, courtyards and gardens. The most famous is the Maiden Tower, which is surrounded by many legends of young women being imprisoned there and jumping to their deaths. Devin Castle also contains a museum on the fortification's history.
