▼ Great Buddha of Kamakura – Approx. 30 Minutes
The Great Buddha of Kamakura, or Kamakura Daibutsu, is a bronze seated statue of Amida Buddha located within Kotoku-in Temple, a Jodo sect temple in the historic city of Kamakura. It is one of the Three Great Buddha Statues of Japan, and the most well-preserved among them.
Statue height (excluding base): 11.3 meters
Total height (including base): 13.35 meters
Weight: Approx. 121 tons
Year of construction: 1252
The statue's gentle facial features, low cranial bump (ushnisha), and slightly forward-leaning posture reflect the style of Song dynasty Buddhist art, which was popular during the Kamakura period. It is a representative sculpture of its time and has been designated as a National Treasure of Japan.
Unlike the Great Buddha of Todaiji in Nara, which has undergone many restorations, the Kamakura Daibutsu has largely remained in its original condition, making it exceptionally rare and valuable.

After visiting the Great Buddha, take a short walk to Hase Station to board the Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway), a charming local train line connecting Fujisawa and Kamakura.This iconic streetcar route passes through many of Kamakura's most famous sightseeing spots and offers picturesque views of the Shonan Coast.
The Enoden isn't just a means of transport – it's a cultural symbol that frequently appears in Japanese films and anime.You won't just observe it from afar – you'll ride the Enoden yourself and experience its nostalgic charm firsthand.

▼ Kamakura High School– Step into the World of Slam Dunk (Approx. 20 min)
Located in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Kamakura High School is the real-life model for the fictional "Ryonan High School" in the classic anime Slam Dunk. Just outside the station, you’ll find the famous railway crossing where Hanamichi Sakuragi waves to Haruko Akagi in one of the anime's most iconic scenes.
As the train bell rings and the Enoden train rushes past, visitors from all over the world pause to take photos here - rekindling the passion and nostalgia of their youth. Even after all these years, this spot remains a beloved pilgrimage site for anime fans.
Shonan Coast (Drive-by View Only)
Although not a stop on the itinerary, the scenic Shonan Coast will come into view as the Enoden train glides past.
It's the gentle sound of waves on the beach, the rush of sea breeze against a motorcycle, and the timeless charm of Kamakura's old streets. It's also the romantic memory of Sakuragi's love for Haruko—a feeling, a vibe, a connection to youth and passion.
▼ Enoshima – Approx. 110 Minutes
The small island of Enoshima is steeped in myth, history, and natural beauty. According to ancient records, Enoshima first formed in the year 552 (Emperor Kinmei's 13th year), when sand rose from the seabed for 21 days to form the island.
Another legend tells of a five-headed evil dragon that once lived in a great lake near present-day Kamakura. The dragon's misdeeds brought disaster—landslides, disease, floods. One day, the skies darkened and a beautiful celestial maiden appeared. A new island emerged from the sea—Enoshima. The dragon, struck by her grace, vowed to change and marry her. Through acts of kindness, he earned her love, and together they protected the land. The dragon is said to be an incarnation of Benzaiten, the goddess of wealth, music, and beauty.
During the Edo period, even Tokugawa Ieyasu visited Enoshima, and it became a popular travel destination for the people of Edo (modern Tokyo).
The island continues to draw visitors with its spiritual allure and vibrant legends.
Enoshima Shrine
Founded in 552 AD, Enoshima Shrine consists of several sub-shrines and is dedicated to Benzaiten.
Cultural treasures include:
A vividly painted eight-armed Benzaiten statue (wooden, seated)
A sword forged by Fujiwara Masamitsu of Hizen Province
The Bronze Torii Gate, Yamato Tortoise Statue, and other historic relics
Benzaiten is also worshipped as a goddess of wealth, and many visitors come here to pray for fortune. At the White Dragon King's Spring, legend has it that washing coins in the sacred water will bring financial luck.

▼  Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine – One of Japan's Three Great Hachimangu Shrines (approx. 70 min)
Originally known as Kamakura Hachimangu, this iconic shrine was the spiritual center for samurai during the Kamakura Shogunate (1192). It is deeply connected to the first shogun of Kamakura and is one of the three most significant Hachimangu shrines in Japan, alongside Iwashimizu Hachimangu in Kyoto and Usa Hachimangu in Oita. The spacious grounds are dotted with nationally designated historic sites and seasonal flowers, making it a famous spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. It's also been awarded one Michelin star in the Green Guide Japan.
Komachi Street
Stretching from Kamakura Station to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Komachi Street is a lively shopping street full of local charm. It's lined with stores selling Kamakura specialties, Japanese handicrafts, and tasty street food—many featured in guidebooks and top review sites. A perfect place to stroll, snack, and shop.
