Space Shuttle Pavilion

The recently re-opened area of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum features the space shuttle Enterprise - a NASA prototype that was an important precursor to the space shuttle program. The Space Shuttle Pavilion offers 17 exhibit zones containing artifacts, photographs and multimedia about the Enterprise. The space shuttle was carefully transported to the Space Shuttle Pavilion in New York City in 2012. The pavilion then was damaged by Hurricane Sandy that same year and had to be closed until mid-2013 for repairs.
