Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center

The Italianate Renaissance Revival style structure in Washington, D.C. contains the President Lincoln's Cottage Welcome Center, exhibits, a gift shop and staff offices. Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center was first built in 1905 as an administration building for Soldiers' Home and opened as a cultural institution in 2008. It received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification from the United States Green Building Council. The center was named after a Virginia philanthropist who donated greatly to the preservation of the Washington, D.C. area.
