Lake Fagnano

Also known as Lake Cami, Lake Fagnano is one of the most spectacular lakes on the main island of Tierra del Fuego and stretches for 645 km². A popular destination on a day trip from Ushuaia, it is commonly paired with the neighboring Lake Escondido. A glacial lake, it formed as a glacial lobe moved to the East. Originally named Lake Kakenchow by the Ona natives, the lake was renamed by European settlers to honor Monsignor Jose Fagnano, the first Apostolic Administrator to the region.
