Sculptor Paul Manship created this celebrated bronze gilded statue of the Greek Titan god Prometheus located in the plaza in front of 30 Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan at the 1933 request of John D. Rockefeller. Mythology states that Prometheus saved humankind by teaching man how to use fire. Manship depicts him coming down from Mount Olympus surrounded by the ring of zodiac bringing humans fire and has a 24-karat gold leaf finish.
