Citadelle of Quebec

The largest British fort in North America spanning more than 37 acres remains an active military site and tourist attraction in the continent's only remaining walled city. The polygon-shaped Citadelle of Quebec, or La Citadelle de Quebec, is located on Cape Diamond and was built between 1820-31. It is home to the Royal 22e Regiment who perform military demonstrations like the Changing of the Guard for visitors during the summer. The site also contains the Royal 22e Regiment Museum and the official residence of the Governor General of Canada.
