Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

This Moscow church is the tallest Orthodox building in the world at 338 feet tall and it's the second church to be built on the site along the Moscow River. Christ the Saviour Cathedral was re-constructed in 1994 in Russian Revival style after the first church was razed in 1931 on orders from Russian ruler Joseph Stalin's government to make room for a Palace of Soviets. The first church was built beginning in 1839 and hosted the premiere of the "1812 Overture" by Tchaikovsky in 1882.
