This 3,688-tall volcano located on Isabela Island in the Galapagos is of the world's most active and its name translated into English means "Black Mountain." Sierra Negra Volcano was formed more than 530,000 years ago and has the second largest caldera in the world. Its visitors area is called Volcan Chico and located on its northeast corner. The Ecuador volcano's last eruption was in 2005 and lasted several days.
