This Southern city that was incorporated in 1822 is named after United States President Andrew Jackson, who fought in both the American Revolutionary War and The War of 1812. Jackson is the capital of and largest city in Mississippi. Notable sites are the Mississippi State Capitol, Mississippi Supreme Court, Jackson Zoo, Mississippi Museum of Art, Old Capitol Museum, Mississippi Children's Museum and the King Edward Hotel.
