About Wawel Castle

Situated on Krakow's Wawel Hill, this grand long-time royal residence is considered to be one of the most important cultural and historic sites in Poland. The site has been utilized by Polish rulers since the 9th century when the Vislane tribe had a fort there. Throughout the years, Wawel Castle was home to many of Poland's royalty, who rebuilt or remodeled the structure to their liking. Today, the castle is open to the public with permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as seasonal tours.
