About Virginia City

This Old West town in Nevada featuring Victorian architecture was the site of the 1859 major silver ore discovery known as the Comstock Lode worth millions of dollars back then. Thousands of people rushed to Virginia City to gain riches, but left after mining output decreased in 1975 making Virginia City a ghost town. Today, it has a population of less than 1,000 people. Attractions include Old West saloons, horse-drawn carriages, old mines, old-fashioned stores and restaurants as well as a steam engine train.
