The 710-acre Canadian zoo is separated into the seven geographic areas of Africa, Americas, Eurasia Worlds, Indo-Malaya, The Tundra Trek, Australasia and Canadian. Toronto Zoo, which opened in 1974 and has 1.3 million visitors per year, has 5,920 animals made up of 484 species in more than 250 exhibits. It also features Splash Island water park, Waterside Theatre, First Nation Art Garden, Giant Panda Experience and numerous theme eateries.
