About Alcazar of Cordoba

In the exciting and historic city of Cordoba, this impressive Gothic castle was built in the 14th century by King Alfonso XI. Despite its Christian origins, the Arab influence is strong, with Moorish-style baths, gardens and courtyards. For three centuries, its main tower served as the site of a permanent tribunal during the Spanish Inquisition. On display in one of its three towers are Roman mosaics and a sarcophagus, remnants of the city's ancient Roman origins. Surely one of the finest sights in all of Andalusia!
