Distinguished for its unique performances and neoclassical design, the Teatro Degollado has stoods in Guadalajara since 1866 as a monument to the city's culture and arts. Built at the height of the Mexican theatre movement, the structure features its trademark red and gold colors on the interior as well as a statues, paintings, and murals. The exterior has featured fewer renovations, maintaining its traditional figure and design, but in 1959 a mural of Apollo and the nine muses was added by Roberto Montenegro.
