Spanning the deep gorge that separates the town of Ronda into two distinct districts, this picturesque stone bridge was completed in 1793. Called "the new bridge," this 300-foot engineering marvel was built to improve upon a 16th century bridge called the Puente Viejo. A chamber built inside Puente Nuevo housed a prison during the Spanish Civil War, though now it is a museum dedicated to the history of the bridge and the gorge it crosses.
