The 282-foot tall steel and glass Maltese Cross-shaped observation tower opened in 1961 and provides an incredible view of the American Falls. Prospect Point Observation Tower contains two elevators giving visitors access to the Niagara Gorge and the Maid of the Mist boarding location. Renovations in 2001 were a deck railing system, concrete observation deck, gift shop and new restrooms.
