About PortAventura

Spain's largest and most visited theme park is this fun-filled resort in Salou, Spain, located approximately 69 miles from Barcelona. PortAventura opened in 1995 along Spain's Costa Dorada and added its Costa Caribe Aquatic Park in 2000. The resort also has four 4-star hotels situated on its property. The theme park is divided into the six sections of Mediterrània, Far West, Mexico, China, Polynesia and Sesamo Aventura. It has more than 30 rides, 15 daily shows, 75 restaurants and concession stands and 27 souvenir shops. PortAventura's roller coaster Shambhala holds three European records for height at 76 meters (249 feet), drop at 78 meters (255 feet) and speed at 134 kilometers (83 miles) per hour. The theme park is visited by approximately four million people per year.
