About Piazza Venezia

This central hub of Rome at the foot of the Capitoline Hill is the gateway to the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Piazza Venezia is dominated by the stark-white and massive National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of unified Italy, which is commonly referred to as “the wedding cake.” Inside you will find a museum dedicated to the history of the unification of Italy. Piazza Venezia is also known as a gathering point for demonstrations and protests.
