About Philadelphia Museum of Art

More than 200 art galleries containing nearly 230,000 pieces make this Philadelphia cultural institution one of the largest museums in the United States. Philadelphia Museum of Art started at the United States' first World Fair - the Centennial Exhibition of 1876 in Fairmount Park. Its collection is housed in The Main Building as well as the Rodin Museum and Garden, Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building and two Colonial homes in Fairmount Park. Philadelphia Museum of Art features paintings, sculptures, photography, textiles and architectural works from the United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America. The museum's steps were made famous in the "Rocky" films and are now called the "Rocky Steps."
