The Paseo de los Tristes is a square that runs parallel to the River Darro, beneath the Alhambra. The square and its fountain were built in 1609. Paseo de los Tristes gets its name from the funeral processions that used to pass through this area on their way to the cemetery on the opposite side of the Alhambra. Now the "walk of the sad" is lined with cafe terraces and is a great place to watch the sun set on the Alhambra.
